APPROACH
Rough sketching first, always. A few loose brushes to find the form before committing to anything. The process here was the same as any other illustration — just with a lot more love behind it.
CONCEPT
For the composition to work, each portrait needed a coloured background —chosen to complement each person's features, filling the negative space the brushstrokes left behind.
